Developed for the National Railway Museum (York) in 2008, Clickety Clack is a story based event for under sixes that examines the science of sounds.

Very loosely based on Auden's classic Night Mail, our audience board a train travelling from London to Glasgow delivering parcels and goods. The sounds of the cities and countryside, and the clickety clack of the train's wheels on the track can be heard as the story unfolds. On arrival in Glasgow the parcels are opened to reveal a variety of whistles, clappers, scrapers and even cups and spoons that the audience use to re-tell the story, this time creating their own sound effects.

Two NRM staff run this event; one tells the story, whilst the other uses a DJ's mixing desk to fade in the sounds and to create a magical audible experience.

Our role was to script the story, provide all props (including the DJ's mixing desk), source and edit all of the sounds, and to train 20 of the NRM's Learning Team to deliver the event.
